The first book I finished for September was our latest book club pick, The Lady’s Guide to Celestial Mechanics. This was a beautiful book about exploration – both scientific and in love.
Although I usually don’t read high school romances, I really enjoyed this sexy read from Jessa Kane, featuring two friends, a cheerleader and a football player, who had been harboring secret feelings for each other.
This book was filled with surprises – I loved the affection for New York City, the very romantic love story, the importance of female friendships and a critique on greed and capitalism. What a great pick for Between These Sheets Book Club – and as a native New Yorker, I have lots of opinions to share with the club!
A new favorite book from a wonderful author, I absolutely loved the first book in the Sins for All Seasons series by Lorraine Heath. This tale of revenge with a love triangle and intrigue was so captivating and heart felt.
I really enjoyed this short but hot story about a young woman who goes to intern for her sexy stepbrothers. She soon realizes her stepbrothers will gladly put her to work, and she is eager to please.
This book about two women who are employed by a generous Lady and can’t keep their eyes off each other is so delightful. It is sweet and steamy with some adventure and intrigue. My only complaint was it was too short because I wanted more of Molly and Alice.
Our last book club pick was The Blacksmith Queen by G.A. Aiken and while I loved the family dynamics and laughed out loud at a few parts, I think the violence in this book was overwhelming.
This intense and super passionate book took me a few days to finish. Lots of trigger warnings for this book including suicide, child abuse and grooming; but these elements of the story helped shape Tiernan and her happy ending is hard earned.
Penelope Douglas’s writing is very engrossing and I am eager to read more from her.
This title totally suits this book – it is breezy and fun to read but also deep and emotional and romantic. A second chance romance for two authors who are sharing a summer in adjacent beach houses and working to fight off their writer’s blocks.
I read and loved this book in 2018 but in honor of the third and final book in the fantastic Bareknuckle Bastards series releasing today (Daring and the Duke), I have decided to publish my 5 star review of the first book in the series.
