I was probably a given that I would read a holiday book by one of my favorite contemporary romance authors this year. I love holiday romance and Christina Lauren consistently delivers funny, sexy and relevant stories. As always, they transported me to the setting of their books – in this case, the beautiful and snowy mountains of Utah.
Maelyn wakes up the morning after Christmas with lots of regrets about her life. She made out with her childhood friend, whose brother she has had a massive crush on. Her job is uninspiring. The cabin where her family and family friends have spent every Christmas holiday is about to be sold.
As she is lamenting on her current situation, a tragedy occurs that somehow brings her to the beginning of her Christmas holiday. With that, comes a fresh start – if she can get it right. But like the movie Groundhog’s Day, Maelyn keeps waking up in the same spot that the beginning of her vacation.
While she gets new chances to get her holiday right, we follow along as she learns to let go and appreciate the things that make a Holiday special. The book has humor, holiday spirit, and definitely some romantic sparks as two people who never thought they had a chance together are shown the possibilities of what could be.
